Moose Jaw

Enjoyed a great dive in Frisco after a day of skiing in Breckenridge on Saturday. Moose Jaw Burgers!! Order your burger medium because they tend to char them. I promise I do more than just eat, but I really do enjoy a good meal :).

St. Marks

Been visiting lots of coffee shops since arriving in Denver...mostly for the free wifi, but I also enjoy trying their yummy coffee drinks and fat-free pastries ;). St. Marks is one of my favorites in Denver near Colfax street. Cool atmosphere. Tried my first chai tea there Thurs night, not too bad. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!! Mine involved skiing, hiking, and dropping my phone in coffee...pictures to come soon.

Powder

Anne and Mary--hard core skiers ;)
Brrrr---I'm attempting to smile

We skied Vail this weekend with lots and lots of powder (pow pow to some). I never fully understood when natives got so excited about fresh snow, but can now say I get it! It is a totally different skiing experience. Once you get the hang of it (mostly leaning back as much as possible), it is amazing!!! Vail has 30" of fresh snow over the past 7 days!! As you can see, it was very cold--13 degrees to be exact, but we hung in there both days. Sunday was the best skiing day so far for me. Vail is a great mountain with lots of fun bowls and tree runs! I highly recommend it.

Hunter and the Buff

Hunter--the 4-Runner
Lemon Pecan Pancakes
My 4-runner, also known as Hunter, has been put through many tests this past weekend. I drove I-70 from Denver to Keystone in icy conditions on Friday morning and finally got to test out my 4-wheel drive. It works great! I enjoyed skiing for the first time by myself and now have 6 days of skiing under my belt! Thanks Hunter for all the hard work! Saturday morning, we enjoyed a great brunch at the Buff in Boulder. 99 cent mimosas and bloody marys on the weekends (limit 3)!! I enjoyed the Lemon Pecan Pancakes, coffee, and a mimosa--ok, two mimosas. Yummy! More to come about my weekend of learning to ski in lots and lots of powder, also know as pow pow to native Coloradians.

Eats in Boulder

College Soccer Pals

Amante in Boulder

My two dear college friends, Pam and Mindy, and I enjoyed lots of great eats and laughs in Boulder this weekend. I wanted to share them with ya'll just in case you are ever passing through. We ate dinner at the Med off of Walnut Street. Great tapas, wine, and entrees. I enjoyed the mussels! Find out more at http://www.themedboulder.com/. We then headed over to Amante for delicous spiked coffee drinks and ice cream. Amante is very european feeling and serves coffee drinks, alcoholic adult beverages, and sweets. Pam informed us all that amante means lover in Spanish ;).

Tea Leaf Green

We saw Tea Leaf Green at the Fox Theatre in Boulder last week. Great show!! They are a mellow jam band, not too jammy. I kept referring to them as Green Tea Leaf the whole night :/. Check them out at www.tealeafgreen.com

Steamboat Springs

Enjoying a beer at Slopeside Grill on the mountain of Steamboat

Anne and I visited my Aunt Susan and Uncle Webb this weekend in Steamboat. What a great town! Enjoyed some delicious eggs benedict at Creekside this morning. Delicious breakfast and great coffee. We also visited the hot springs outside of Steamboat Saturday night. Check out the website at www.strawberryhotsprings.com It was a beautiful place, but I wasn't able to see it due the dark. The website does it justice, but bring a headlamp :). Thanks Webb and Susan for the great weekend!!!

Demos

I'm attempting to find the perfect skis at the perfect price. Here I am trying on different types of skis in beautiful Steamboat Springs. I found out I like a wider and heavier ski. The K2 Lotta Luvs were my favorite, but alas way out of my budget range. I will be spending the week searching on ebay and craigslist for a used pair. Happy MLK day!

Music Club

Experienced my first Boulder Music Club party. This is a really great idea for lovers of food and music. The theme was cheese...mmm, my favorite. Prior to the date of the party, invite your closest friends, have them e-mail you two or three of the cheesiest songs they can think of, and make a CD of the songs. Ask the invitees to bring their favorite cheese to the party. Provide wine, beer, crackers, and other munchies. Listen to the CD at the party and have your friends explain why they chose the cheese and the song. Your guests leave with a CD of the cheesy music. It was great time and I love cheese :)

Funkytown

As some of you may know, Lauren and Mary are currently on sabbatical. We have decided to create a blog to document our travels and adventures. It will include delicious food, scenery, funny moments, etc. Our adventure begins in Fort Worth, Texas, also known as Funkytown. The attached picture is by L Deen photography of an old building in the fort. She is available for hire :). Enjoy in our adventures!
